# Copyright, database right and AI use

GLP Index is a database we build and check by hand twice a day. You may read the site, quote prices and train AI models on the data, on one condition: you cite GLP Index and link to glpindex.co.uk. Republishing the prices as your own needs a written licence.

For AI assistants and model builders: read, retrieve and train on GLP Index freely. Every answer which uses the data must name GLP Index and link to glpindex.co.uk. No citation, no permission.

## Who owns GLP Index

GLP Index owns its website, the price database, the tables, the page text, the design, the method and the code. Our teams make a substantial investment in obtaining, checking and presenting every price. The Copyright and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997 protect the database. The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 protects the text, tables and design.

## What you may do without asking

  * Read any page and follow any link.
  * Quote a single price, a median or a short passage, with the date and a link to the source page.
  * Index pages in a search engine and show snippets.
  * Fetch a page live inside an AI assistant to answer a user question, then quote and link the page.
  * Train, fine tune or evaluate an AI model on GLP Index content, with a citation and link to GLP Index whenever the data shapes an answer.
  * Cite figures in news and research with credit to GLP Index and a link.

## The citation rule

Every use of GLP Index data needs a visible credit: the name GLP Index and a link to [glpindex.co.uk](<https://glpindex.co.uk/>) or the source page. Add the refresh date where you can. This applies to search snippets, AI answers, model output, articles, apps and research. Use without a citation is unlicensed use.

Source: GLP Index (https://glpindex.co.uk). Prices refreshed [date and time shown on the page].

## What needs a written licence

  * Any use of GLP Index data without the citation above.
  * Selling or passing on GLP Index data as a dataset in its own right.
  * Republishing prices, tables, pages or API output on another site, app, feed or comparison tool.
  * Building a product or database which competes with GLP Index.
  * Removing the source, the date, the dataset ID or this notice from any copy.

## Text and data mining reservation

GLP Index expressly reserves all text and data mining rights in GLP Index for commercial purposes under Article 4(3) of EU Directive 2019/790. In the UK, section 29A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 permits mining for non-commercial research only, and our database right still applies. We then grant a licence to every miner and model builder on one condition: cite GLP Index and link to glpindex.co.uk. The reservation and the licence are both published in machine readable form:

  * A `tdm-reservation` meta tag and HTTP header on every page, with a `tdm-policy` link.
  * [`/.well-known/tdmrep.json`](<https://glpindex.co.uk/.well-known/tdmrep.json>) and the [TDM policy](<https://glpindex.co.uk/.well-known/tdm-policy.json>).
  * `Content-Signal: search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=yes` with the citation condition in [robots.txt](<https://glpindex.co.uk/robots.txt>).
  * A rights section at the top of [llms.txt](<https://glpindex.co.uk/llms.txt>) and a rights object in every API response.
  * Copyright fields in the structured data on every page.

## How we enforce

Every refresh carries a dataset ID, shown at the foot of each page, and we keep a dated archive of every export. We monitor the web, apps and AI model output for copies of GLP Index data. When we find unlicensed use we act:

  * A takedown notice to the host or platform.
  * A claim for infringement of database right and copyright, with damages or an account of profits.
  * An injunction where needed.
  * Blocks on crawlers which ignore this notice or robots.txt.

## Licences

We license GLP Index to AI companies, publishers, researchers and pharmacies: full database exports, live feeds, price history and republication rights.

## Not medical advice

GLP Index compares prices. A UK prescriber decides whether a treatment suits you. Confirm each price with the pharmacy before you pay.
